Missouri State Highway Patrol uses TVI to stop DUI suspect going wrong way on the highway at 90mph
-----
Miller County, MO - The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) have taken a different stance on stopping fleeing drivers in these recent past.
Troopers in Missouri now have learned the TVI (Tactical Vehicle Intervention) to safely end high-speed vehicle pursuits by using a police car to force a suspect's vehicle to spin out or stop.
Also known as the PIT maneuver (Precision Immobilization Technique). It's a training-intensive tactic designed to prevent dangerous chases, involving precise contact to control the fleeing vehicle and ensure public safety.
MSHP were recently faced with a fleeing driver going the wrong-way with no lights on a divided highway at 90 mph.
In a split second the Trooper was equipped to make the decision.
The driver suffered minor injuries and was charged Felony Fleeing (Valentines Law), Felony DWI and other charges.
