Met police head Cressida Dick announces review: File footage of Sarah Everard vigil at Clapham Common
Dame Cressida Dick announced this evening (October 8) that Baroness Louise Casey of Blackstock will lead an independent review into the Metropolitan Police's culture and standards.
This follows the tragic death of Sarah Everard who was killed by Wayne Couzens, a serving Metropolitan police officer in a diplomatic protection role. He used police training and equipment in order to falsely arrest Sarah.
The review seeks to restore the publics' trust in the police force by examining vetting and recruitment procedures.
The vigil for Sarah Everard was canceled after police banned the event under covid restrictions at the time. Hundreds attended regardless and were initially were allowed to gather until police shut the vigil down, arresting nine and prompting criticism from the wider public.
