Violence between Israel and Gaza: destroyed buildings, rockets

Israeli jets and Palestinian militants exchanged air strikes and rockets, and the UN special envoy to the Middle East warned that large-scale wars would escalate. Tall buildings with apartments and offices in Gaza City were targeted. The Israeli military said it had killed four Hamas commanders.
As air strikes and rocket attacks continue, cities where Jews and Arabs live together have suffered the worst violent community attacks in Israel in years.
