Thousands sing as they welcome Huawei CFO back to China after deal with US persecutors
Thousands sang a patriotic song at Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport to welcomed Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou back to China.
Video filmed in the city of Shenzhen in Guangdong Province on September 25 shows thousands of locals flooding the airport to sing “Ode to the Motherland” as Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou landed at her hometown after two years of legal wrangling in Canada.
In December 2018, Meng was arrested in Vancouver as a New York court issued an arrest warrant saying she tried to cover up attempts by Huawei-linked companies to sell equipment to Iran in breach of US sanctions.
Meng was finally allowed to leave Canada and flew back to China on Saturday (September 25) after securing the deal with US prosecutors.
