Activists from Greenpeace placed a giant octopus sculpture outside the parliament building in the Indonesian capital on Tuesday (October 5) to denounce "energy corruption."

Footage showed protesters draping the tentacles of the giant cephalopod over the walls of the parliament compound.

The head of the monstrous beast was emblazoned with the word "oligarghy" on both sides.

Indonesia has a long history of corruption in the energy sector.

In 2012, a court sentenced Ridwan Sanjaya, an official from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, to six years in prison for rigging a tender bid for a home solar energy system project worth 57 million US dollars.
