A man was apprehended by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) after he resisted arrest and dragged a deputy 49 feet while handcuffed.

On December 11, at 7:15 p.m. deputies were trying to serve Keon Hodge, 28, an active arrest warrant when he pulled away and began arresting deputies.

Deputies tried to tase Hodge twice, but both attempts failed.

HCSO's aviation unit spotted Hodge hiding in a storage container, trying to remove the handcuff that was still on his wrist.

Deputies say moments later, K9 units along with patrol units found Hodge hiding in a hot water heater.

Hodge was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer without violence, prison escape or attempted escape, criminal mischief of $1,000 or more, trespassing and arrest on failure to obey written promise on appearance.

"When it comes to teamwork, it couldn't be better displayed than what these deputies showed," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "After this man violently rejected the first attempt at his arrest, he now will face additional consequences for his despicable actions."
