An 18-year-old man is accused of causing nearly several head-on collisions after he stole a pickup truck on Thursday, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office (VCSO) says.
According to the sheriff's office, Eblair Sylvain, 18, stole a pickup truck from the city of Umatilla in Lake County and drove recklessly at speeds exceeding 100 mph.

Sylvain's wild ride caused deputies to deploy stop sticks on West New York Avenue.

Video captured on a police body cam shows a deputy bringing traffic to stop as he throws the stop stick in front of the speeding pickup truck.

Deputies continued to pursue the suspect, who got out of his car and ran a short distance in the woods before he was apprehended by law enforcement.

A gun was recovered by deputies, however, the serial number had been ground off.

Sylvain was charged with grand theft of a vehicle, grand theft of a firearm, reckless driving and resisting violence, the sheriff's office says.

Sylvain is being held on a $25,000 bond.
