California City police officer injured in shooting with a 17-year-old female suspect

California City, CA - A California City Police Department officer was injured in a shooting involving a 17-year-old girl on April 21st.
Officers responded to a report of an assault with a firearm near Corwin Street and Lime Avenue around 4:00 p.m.
An officer located the suspect on the 8700 block of Hickory Avenue, where an officer-involved shooting occurred.
The officer suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.
The teenage girl was taken into custody along with a firearm, additional ammunition, and a knife.
She was also shot during the incident and taken to the hospital for treatment.
The juvenile was arrested for:
* Two counts of attempted murder
* Assault with a firearm on a peace officer
* Shooting at an occupied vehicle
* Attempted murder on a public official
* Carrying a loaded firearm in public
* Minor in possession of ammunition
* Carrying a concealed knife
* Resisting/ obstructing a peace officer
The officer has been placed on critical incident leave pending an investigation by the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
On June 5th, the California City Police Department's Incident Review Board determined that the use of force in this case was within policy.
