Groton, CT - A man was rescued from an icy marina in Groton, Connecticut, on Wednesday night after falling off the dock.

The scary fall occurred around 7:21 p.m. at Spicer's Marina on Marsh Road in Noank.

Groton police said they received a 911 call from the victim's friend, who claimed he had been stuck in the water for 15 minutes and was losing feeling in his limbs.

The friend claimed he dropped the victim off at the marina and asked him to send a text after boarding his boat.

When no message was sent, the friend returned to the marina and found the victim struggling in the water.

Body camera video provided by police showed the moment the first officer walked out on the icy dock towards the victim in distress. His friend was supporting him, keeping his head above water.

The officer immediately requested backup and helped hold the victim's wrist to keep him afloat.

Additional officers cleared the ice from the dock and were able to safely pull the victim from the freezing waters.

The man was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London for injuries that aren't considered to be life-threatening, according to police.
