Dashcam footage shows emu dart in front of a Brunswick police cruiser
-----
Brunswick, ME - The Brunswick Police Department is sharing dashboard camera footage that shows some of the wild encounter officers had with an emu Monday night.
Police said Officer Cory Clark and Officer Paige Michaud responded to reports of a large bird that was spotted along the road and found the emu, which had escaped from its owners' yard.
According to police, the emu made a brief dash into the roadway before settling down in the parking lot at Mid Coast Hospital.
The dashcam video shared by police showed the emu dart in front of a cruiser, which forced the officer driving it to come to a hard stop.
The officers were able to secure the emu, which is native to Australia, and kept it safe until its owners arrived to bring it home.
