Motorcyclist arrested after knocking down a Hillsborough Sheriff’s deputy, leaving passenger behind

Ruskin, FL - A motorcyclist was arrested after he fled a traffic stop in Ruskin, knocking a deputy to the ground, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.
A deputy attempted to stop a motorcycle for speeding down East College avenue at 10:08 p.m. on Sunday, according to HCSO.
Body camera video shows the deputy exiting his patrol car, telling the rider to turn the motorcycle off.
When the deputy grabbed the motorcycle’s handle, the rider accelerated, knocking the deputy and a passenger to the ground, according to video.
The rider then circled back after noticing the passenger had fallen and was secured in handcuffs.
Thomas Wright, 51, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon and fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer.
