Trainee deputy pits vehicle related to a disturbance call
-----
Marion County, FL - On December 20, deputies responded to a disturbance call on Larch Road that turned into a vehicle pursuit after the driver fled from deputies. Deputies located a vehicle stopped in the roadway with no lights on. As Deputy Bailey approached the vehicle, the driver, later identified as Dexter Jackson, suddenly accelerated, striking a patrol vehicle and fleeing the scene.
Deputy Latham and Deputy Trainee Frye initiated a pursuit, which ended a very short time later with a PIT maneuver.
During an inventory search of the vehicle… bada bing, bada boom…cocaine under the seat, as well as a loaded handgun, and Hydrocodone in Kenya's purse. Dexter admitted he had just bought cocaine, but when he saw the deputies, he got scared and fled.
Dexter Jackson and Kenya Jackson were arrested and transported to jail.
