On Dec. 2, Officer Arim Ismail responded to a home in the 6800 block of Pemmbrooke Shire Lane around 1:30 a.m. after Knox County 911 received a text 10 minutes prior that said "Need help asap," according to KPD.

In the video, you can see Ismail approach the front door and ring the doorbell. She walks a few steps away from the front door area and has her back to the garage. The garage door opened suddenly, and the officer began yelling, pulled out her gun, ran to the side of the house, and radioed "shots fired."

KPD said Ismail fired the shot while she was running for cover.

As the video is slowed down and paused, you can see a man standing near the back of a car. It's unclear if the man is holding anything in his hand or pointing any weapon towards Ismail.

Ismail runs behind her cruiser and keeps her gun pointed at the man, who stays in the garage. The man is yelling something as he stays in the garage. Another officer joins Ismail and tells the man to walk out with his hands up multiple times.

"He opened the garage really fast, and I saw something..." Ismail told the other officer. "He had something right here that was... black."

At one point, the two officers tell the man to "drop the gun." The weapon is not visible in the video, and the other officer tells Ismail that he dropped it.

The man eventually walks out to the street and officers handcuff him. The video then shows a picture of the gun that was recovered at the scene.

The man was taken into custody without further incident and was transported to an area hospital for a mental health evaluation, according to KPD.
