Royal Oak, MI - Royal Oak police released video of a driver plowing through an Ulta Beauty on Sunday following a chase.
Police initially responded to the area of W Fourth Street and S Center Street just before 1 a.m. on Nov. 9 for a report of a person driving their car on train tracks.
According to police, the driver, who police identified as 26-year-old Katrina Deann-Renee Patterson of Canton, refused to cooperate when officers arrived at the scene. Officers said they noticed one of the car’s tires was going flat and saw an open container of alcohol in the car.
When officers asked for her driver’s license, Patterson allegedly drove away northbound on Washington Avenue.
Police then chased after the woman west on Farnum Avenue to Oakridge Avenue, which ended at an alley parallel to northbound Woodward Avenue.
Officials said she turned into the alley, where she drove and crashed into the Ulta Beauty off Woodward.
After Patterson initially drove into the store, a newly released video showed the car repeatedly backing up and driving through the store, eventually ramming into a police car in the process.
Patterson was then arrested. A man riding as a passenger in the car was also arrested, but was later released with a citation for having open alcohol in a motor vehicle.
Police believe Patterson was driving under the influence. They said her blood results are pending.
On Monday, Nov. 10, Patterson was arraigned in the 44th District Court.
She faces multiple felony charges, including fleeing police, assaulting officers, and malicious destruction of property and a building.
According to police, her criminal history includes a 2023 conviction for operating while intoxicated in Port Huron.
Bond was set at $50,000 cash, no 10%, and her next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 21, 2025.
Police said no officers were injured, and both Patterson and the passenger were medically evaluated for minor injuries from the crash.
