Trooper, civilian rescue man from sinking car in Cayuga County

Cato, NY - New York State Police released body-worn camera footage showing a trooper rescuing a man trapped inside a sinking vehicle at a boat launch in Cayuga County.

Trooper Christopher Cady responded to Cross Lake Marina in the town of Cato around 2:35 p.m. Sunday for a report of a car in the water with a man trapped inside, according to state police.

Cady immediately entered the water and used a window punch to break the vehicle's sunroof.

With help from a nearby good Samaritan, Cady was able to free the man from the sinking vehicle.
