Fort Myers, FL - New video footage has emerged on Wednesday, shedding light on a confrontation between two teenagers and a Fort Myers police officer.
In an exclusive interview, it was revealed that this video was shown to the NAACP after they requested a meeting with Police Chief Jason Fields.
The footage shows one teen being tased at the intersection of Henderson Avenue and Lincoln Boulevard.
The video, released by Chief Fields, includes both dash cam and body cam footage detailing the events leading to the traffic stop.
The footage captures the officer instructing the teens to pull over, but they refuse.
The dash cam video offers a clear perspective as the officer approaches the car with the teens. He repeatedly asks them to stay in the car.
The officer exits his vehicle, explaining the stop was due to the unlawful use of their horn while drawing his gun.
The situation escalated as a crowd gathered, leading to the officer using a taser on one of the teens.
The NAACP president confirmed that the families of the two teenagers have filed a civil rights complaint with the Justice Department and an internal affairs complaint.
