Trousdale County, TN - A driver is facing multiple charges after he reportedly swerved his vehicle toward a deputy during a pursuit on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Trousdale County Sheriff’s Department.

TCSD responded to Highway 25 East after the Smith County Sheriff’s Office reported they were pursuing a black Mustang with Kentucky tags.

Deputies were positioned at Lattie Reese Road to intercept the fleeing vehicle. As the Mustang approached the location, a deputy attempted to deploy a spike strip.

The driver can then be seen on dashcam video swerving toward the deputy and accelerating.

The fleeing vehicle was stopped a short distance later after another deputy performed a P.I.T. (Precision Immobilization Technique) maneuver.

TCSD said the driver was then removed from the car and arrested. The video shows a deputy grab the driver by his collar and drag him out of the car through the driver’s open window.

He was booked into jail on multiple charges, including assault against a law enforcement officer, evading arrest by motor vehicle, reckless driving, improper passing, no registration and no insurance.

The car has been impounded for an open title.

Charges are also pending for the driver in Smith County, according to the sheriff’s department.
