US family work together to rescue helpless horse trapped in frozen lake

A family in Cyril, Oklahoma, managed to rescue a horse that became trapped in a frozen river on February 19.

Footage shows the group of family and friends breaking the icy surface around the horse, named Star, before dragging the animal to the shore.

Once Star is on solid ground the group brush her down and cover the animal in blankets to keep her warm.

Celebratory cries are heard as the animal hops up to its feet.

Further footage shows Star recovering while grazing on some hay.
