Suspect Claims Gas Pedal Was Stuck After Pursuit
-----
Concord, AR - A police chase from last month ended with a suspect arrested for fleeing and other charges in Cleburne County.
At about 1:50 p.m. on October 3, officers were requested to help serve a warrant on Ricky Brock at 360 Cooper Road. Members of the Concord Police Department, the 16th Judicial Drug Task Force, and the responding deputy arrived at the residence at around 1:53 p.m.
As officers got out of their patrol vehicles, a white Nissan Frontier approached the driveway. When the driver saw law enforcement vehicles, he backed up and “spun tires on the dirt road,” accelerating toward State Highway 25, the report said.
The deputy notified dispatch of a pursuit and activated emergency lights and sirens. The vehicle traveled roughly 0.7 miles south on Cooper Road before stopping in a private driveway.
When the deputy arrived, the male driver had already exited the truck and was walking toward the patrol vehicle. After jumping out, the suspect — later identified as John Figueroa — reportedly failed to put the truck in park, causing it to roll backward into the deputy’s push bumper. No damage occurred.
Figueroa was taken into custody and transported to the Cleburne County Detention Center. He was booked on:
* Fleeing by Vehicle (5-54-125(d)(1))
* Careless and Prohibited Driving (27-51-104)
* No Liability Insurance (27-22-104)
