Flagler County, FL - Saturday evening, deputies arrested Autumn Bellows, 18, of Palm Coast, after she spit on a deputy while they were trying to secure her.

At approximately 7 p.m., deputies responded to a report concerning a woman who was intoxicated and in distress. Following an investigation deputies determined Bellows met the criteria to be placed into involuntary protective custody.

During transportation to a mental health facility, Bellows became belligerent in the back seat of the patrol vehicle, kicking and banging her head against the partition. Bellows also informed the deputy transporting her that she had escaped the handcuffs she was placed in.

As deputies attempted to resecure Bellows, she was uncooperative and spit on a deputy, with the spit landing on his face and hair. During the exchange, Bellows stated to deputies that she was trying to go to jail and was wanting to be criminally charged. Deputies then secured Bellows in handcuffs, a spit mask, and restraints.

“If you batter a deputy sheriff, including spitting on them, which is disgusting and disrespectful, I can guarantee you a trip to the Green Roof Inn,” said Sheriff Staly. “She wanted to go to jail, and she got her wish and earned herself a felony arrest.”

Deputies arrested Bellows for battery on a law enforcement officer. After being taken to AdventHealth Palm Coast and medically cleared, she was then transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. She was later released on a $2,500 bond.
