Assault suspect knocked unconscious when a Lindsay police officer does a take-down
-----
Lindsay, CA - Lindsay Police released bodycam video Monday, where one of their officers used “force” to arrest suspects connected to an assault where a man was knocked unconscious Friday.
At around 10 p.m., officers received a call for an assault in the 100 block of W. Hermosa Street. When police received the call, the person who reported it said that a group of “gangsters” knocked a man unconscious.
An officer arrived on scene and located the man as he was starting to regain consciousness. As they were taking his statement, officers saw a group of approximately seven people running north in an alleyway nearby.
Police said that the officer recognized some of them as having prior contacts as gang members and associates. They then ran westbound from the alley through private homes.
The officer entered his vehicle and drove to the 300 block of Sweetbrier Avenue, where he saw two of the people. He detained them. Others were on the other side of the street, and he tried to detain them.
Police said those two people ignored the officer, and one of them passed him while he was touching his waistband.
In the video, one of the men can be seen being knocked down onto the floor after ignoring the officer’s commands.
He was then placed into handcuffs, and that’s when the officer went to arrest the other suspect.
