Deputies use grappler to stop driver during chase
By: Battle Ground, WA - The Clark County Sheriff's Office released video of their deputies using a grappler device to stop a suspect who led them on a car chase Tuesday on SR-503 through Battle Ground.
The pursuit started at about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday when deputies found a car linked to several hit-and-run crashes in the Portland area. Officials said the driver was reported as missing and was thought to be in a mental health crisis.
Dashcam video shows the driver crossing into oncoming traffic and hitting several other cars. At one point the chase reached more than 80 mph.
There were no reports of serious physical injury from the incident.
Deputies eventually used a grappler device to safely stop the car and they took the driver into custody. She was taken to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation and care.
