Tucson, AZ - New body-cam video shows Tucson police officers confront a student who they say flashed a gun and threatened as classmate earlier this month during summer school at Rincon High.
Valente Lazaro Zambrano, 19, is accused of threatening a fellow student June 2 during a brief argument inside a school bathroom. During the spat, Zambrano allegedly displayed a gun he had hidden near his ankle, Tucson police said.
The arrest, caught on police body cam footage, was released on social media by police. It shows armed officers enter a classroom occupied by Zambrano and several other students. The faces of the students are blurred in the video.
Zambrano was swiftly taken from the classroom and searched.
A handgun, containing a magazine with 10 live rounds, was located hidden near his ankle as had been described by the student who said he’d been threatened, police said.
Zambrano was booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of felony disorderly conduct with a weapon. Bond was set at $50,000.
