Bodycam shows moment Berrien County Sheriff's deputy returns fire after suspect fires gun

Benton Harbor, MI - The sheriff's office released bodycam videos and photos from the officer involved shooting.
48-year-old Joshua Coffey was killed in the shooting.
The video showed the moment Deputy Cal Landon was shot at, and the split second he returned fire, killing him.
Officials say Deputy Landon approached a vehicle parked on the side of the road in Niles Township on June 30.
Upon the deputy's arrival, 48-year-old Joshua Coffey, the passenger ran.
While in pursuit, Coffey stopped and raised his left hand but would not show his right.
Police say he dropped to one knee before firing at least two rounds at Deputy Landon.
Deputy Landon was able to quickly transition to from his taser to his gun and return fire.
Berrien County Sheriff Chuck Heit said he stands behind deputy Landon 100% and the actions he took.
“Deputy Landon's ability to quickly transition from his Taser to his firearm allowed him to neutralize the threat of his life and others. It is only God’s grace that Deputy Landon was not shot. His actions reflect the personal courage and the quality of our training,” said Heit.
