On April 25, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk received a message from a citizen that they tried to snatch her bag. The robbery was stopped by passers-by, reports IA SakhalinMedia with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Sakhalin Region.

Police officers immediately arrived at the scene and took the detained citizen to the city police department for further investigation. In the course of work on the spot, a witness was interviewed, a bag and recordings from a video surveillance camera were seized, and other urgent measures were taken.

The detainee, a 32-year-old local resident, confessed. The citizen is currently in custody.
