Bodycam shows Yavapai County deputies helping save choking baby

Yavapai County, AZ - A family is breathing a sigh of relief after deputies in Yavapai County helped save their newborn baby from choking last year.
On Nov. 10, deputies responded to Bloody Basin Road just north of Bumble Bee after receiving a call from parents saying their 2-week-old baby was choking.
Body-worn camera video released Friday by the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office shows the first deputy arriving on scene to help.
The father had been performing infant CPR, which included back blows and chest compressions.
“My wife was holding him and then all of a sudden he started turning purple and started choking,” the father said.
The father handed the baby over to deputies, who continued CPR.
After deputies administered chest compressions, a second deputy on scene advised flipping the baby over.
In the video, the baby can be heard crying after a deputy firmly slaps the baby’s back while attempting to clear the airway.
The baby was later transported to a hospital, where he recovered.
