Volusia County, FL - A man accused of stealing a BMW and wrecking it in a high-speed crash told a Florida deputy he didn't steal it but instead "teleported" into it, body camera video shows.

The footage released by the Volusia County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday shows the deputy first responding after the BMW's owner reported it stolen.

The owner explained he was walking his dog in a park and had left the keys inside in the cupholder and returned to find it gone.

According to the sheriff's office, the BMW crashed a few minutes later, as witnesses reported it was going over 100 mph before it wrecked.

The footage shows the deputy encountering the suspect, 36-year-old Calvin Curtis Johnson, who's standing next to the wrecked car and whose face is covered in blood.

"I teleported or something," Johnson says in the video.

"Where'd you get the car from?" the deputy asks.

"I don't know, I don't know, it's common," Johnson replies. "I teleported."

Johnson is placed in handcuffs as the deputy uses a fire extinguisher to put out a small fire in part of the wrecked BMW.

"Thank you for saving me," Johnson says. "You saved me from the aliens."

Johnson was taken to a local hospital and was expected to be booked into jail on charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle and driving with a suspended license.
