A monkey in India has adopted a puppy as its own baby, even taking it up a tree to protect it from humans that were trying to help.

The monkey is unusually friendly with local dogs, hanging around and often playing together.

But then it took its closeness to canines to the next level by adopting a newborn puppy. The monkey takes this puppy with it wherever it roams.

Some people tried to take the puppy from the monkey by offering food to distract it, but then the monkey mom got defensive
