utilising the most basic of tools the Afghan mechanic does a good job of keeping the trucks trucking... dirt floor engineering of the nth degree. The young guys pick up some good skills from the older guys.. remember, this is a land of great hardships - no work equals no eat - it's as simple and brutal as that. One thing that I admire about these characters is they can leave their half built engines outside at night and it'll still be there in the morning - no one will dare mess about with it or do any harm to their possessions - better than what you could say for many parts of Engerland-stan. I once had two youngsters drop my Volkswagen engine whilst in Tabriz to repair the awkward to get at #3 piston. They where s-hot!
