NY State Police use bloodhound to track down and arrest an Ogdensburg man
Ogdensburg, NY - State Police have released body cam footage of the arrest of an Ogdensburg man who was located with the help of a bloodhound K9 unit Dec. 31.
Zachary H. Smith, 36, of Ogdensburg, was charged Dec. 31 with one count of first-degree criminal contempt, State Police say.
The charges stem from a Dec. 24 complaint that alleges Smith violated a stay-away order of protection by allegedly contacting the protected party, being present at locations where the victim was known to be, and making threatening remarks, according to State Police.
On Dec. 31 State Police conducted for Smith near Loafers Bluff Drive, resulting in the subject fleeing on foot.
State Police K9 Falb, a bloodhound, was deployed and located Smith about 50 yards from the residence, hiding in a wooded area.
State Police body-worn camera captured the moment K9 Falb located Smith and troopers took him into custody.
Smith was transported to State Police Gouverneur for processing. He was arraigned in Rossie Town Court and was remanded to the St. Lawrence County Jail.
