Bodycam shows Murfreesboro officer fatally shooting suspect who attempted to rob an armored truck
The Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) has identified the officer responsible for shooting an armed robbery suspect on Wednesday, putting an end to the 44-year-old suspect's crime spree.
MPD reports 5-year veteran Officer Adam Claiborne opened fire on the suspect inside Jason's Deli when the man charged at him with two large knives and ignored commands to stop.
Officer Claiborne was among those who responded to the scene following a 911 call about the suspect attempting to rob an armored truck at an ATM. One of the truck's crew pulled a weapon, which prompted the suspect to flee.
MPD says the man then went into the Deli, where six workers were inside. Officers responded, leading to the shooting. “Gave him various commands to produce his hands. He did not. After many commands, repeated commands, our officer had to discharge his service weapon, striking the male subject several times,” MPD spokesperson Larry Flowers said.
