Body, dashcam shows Ohio trooper finding sleeping suspect armed with gun, sparks multi-state pursuit
By: Body cam footage from the Ohio State Highway Patrol from Friday’s shots fired, vehicle pursuit has been released.
The suspect, 27-year-old Tyler Karhut, of Toronto, was confronted by police at a rest stop on Route 213 after law enforcement found him sleeping in his car with a gun on his lap.
Karhut had several warrants for his arrest from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
The pursuit ended in McDonald, Pa., where Karhut was taken into custody by local police and was processed at the Washington County Jail.
Lt. Robert Bodo of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says they are waiting to hear back from Pennsylvania authorities on when Karhut can be brought back to Ohio.
Bodo says once he returns to Ohio, he will most likely be arraigned in county court in Toronto.
