Footage captured the frightening moment a tourist boat capsized off the coast of Bali. The 125-seater vessel began to sink shortly after loading its passengers, for a journey that was expected to last about 30 minutes. Of the 89 passengers, 77 were foreigners and 12 Indonesians. Witnesses rushed to assist those trapped as the boat tilted and sank deeper into the sea. Fortunately, the incident occurred close to shore and all passengers were safely evacuated by 6.30pm local time, with no fatalities or serious injuries. Divers were called to check the sunken wreckage and nearby seabed to confirm no one was left behind. While most passengers decided to stay in Nusa Lembongan, two went to Sanur Harbour. One woman described the terrifying moments as passengers rushed to escape the sinking boat. "People broke portholes to get out. Most made it back to shore before they threw life rafts and life jackets into the sea. Locals and smaller boats rescued children and those in need first," she said. "We jumped into the water and swam to a nearby glass-bottom boat that took us back to shore. The bags are still being washed up and collected by Tanis staff." The Tanis ship, notes Giovanni D'Agata, president of the "Sportello dei Diritti," had been in operation for only three months before this incident.
