A Gainesville woman was arrested early Friday morning after Gwinnett County Police stopped her using a PIT maneuver after driving the wrong way on the road, according to bodycam footage shared by the department.

Around 2:45 a.m. on January 12, Sgt. Kingsley noticed the vehicle traveling against traffic near Peachtree Industrial Boulevard on Nelson Brogdon Boulevard. The driver, later identified as a 27-year-old, made a U-turn in front of the officer and continued on the wrong side of the road.

Recognizing the imminent danger to other motorists, Sgt. Kingsley executed a controlled stop using a Precision Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver to bring the vehicle to a halt. No injuries were reported during the incident.

The woman was arrested on charges of driving under the influence (DUI), driving on the wrong side of the roadway, and fleeing or attempting to elude police. She was taken to the Gwinnett County Jail without further incident.
