St. John's County Sheriff's deputy places handcuffs on a runaway Emu
-----
St. John's County, FL - A runaway emu caused quite a stir in Florida when it took off, evading capture during an unexpected adventure.
The St. John's County Sheriff's Office said that they responded to County Road 13 when the large bird was spotted roaming freely on January 9.
“In my 25 years, I’ve never handcuffed an emu,” Corporal Keisler remarked. “This is definitely a new one.”
According to the Sheriff's Office, Corporal Keisler led the charge to secure the emu, but quickly found himself in a challenging pursuit.
The feisty bird ignored his commands and kicked out repeatedly with its powerful talons, making it a tricky situation for the officer.
However, after a brief chase, Cpl. Keisler cornered the emu and successfully secured it using a makeshift lasso, cleverly handcuffing its legs to prevent it from using its talons.
Thanks to Cpl. Keisler, the emu, was captured without injury or harm and reunited with its owners.
