Teen leads deputies on a high-speed chase on Golden Gate Pkwy while on an e-dirt bike
By: Naples, FL - A 15-year-old is accused of leading deputies on a chase while riding an electric dirt bike through rush hour traffic in the Naples area on Tuesday.
According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, shortly before 6 p.m., deputies were patrolling the area of Golden Gate Parkway and 66th Street Southwest when they saw Kyle Simeon, of Naples, speeding and performing stunts on an electric dirt bike on the sidewalk.
CCSO said Simeon was acting with no regard to public safety.
Deputies attempted a traffic stop on Simeon, who drove away, reaching speeds of close to 70 mph in heavy traffic, CCSO said.
Simeon continued to flee, jumping sidewalks and weaving into traffic along Golden Gate Parkway. Due to the dangerous conditions of the chase, deputies called off the pursuit, CCSO said.
Simeon then rode down a hill and into a ditch near Santa Barbara Boulevard and Recreation Lane. His bike then became stuck, CCSO said.
Deputies arrested him without incident. Simeon faces a charge of fleeing and eluding law enforcement.
