Bodycam shows gas station arrest after stolen Suburban suspect tried to flee
-----
Kettering, OH - Officers made an arrest following an incident at a local gas station.
According to the Kettering Police Department, officers responded to a reported theft suspect being on Smithville Road near Forrer Boulevard around 11:15 a.m. on August 19.
Police say they were alerted to an alleged theft suspect who was driving a stolen Chevy Suburban in the area and then at a gas pump at the BP on South Smithville Road.
Officers were familiar with this vehicle from the day before when it fled from them, so they positioned their vehicles around it.
Police say the driver of the vehicle, later identified as Angelo Locurto, 22, heard police sirens and entered the stolen vehicle and tried to flee, ramming police vehicles in the process.
The Kettering Police Department says that officers standing by their vehicles were nearly hit, and other officers remained inside their vehicles while they were hit.
Police say Locurto continued to try to leave, when officers approached the vehicle and attempted to arrest him.
Officers say he refused to comply with their demands, so they broke the driver's side window, deployed a taser, and removed Locurto from the vehicle to arrest him.
Police say that during this, a gun was on the driver's seat in the car, which police later determined to be stolen.
Police say they also found suspected narcotics in the car, though the evidence has been sent to the laboratory to be inspected.
