Tulsa, OK - Body camera footage shows the moment a Tulsa police unit ran over a man officers were chasing for jaywalking.
The incident took place in April, when officers arrived at a parking lot near 11th and S. Garnett after a jaywalking suspect fled from police.
When one of the officers got to the scene to assist with the arrest, the officer forgot to put the police vehicle in park. As they tried to handcuff the man, the vehicle ran him over.
Officers pulled him out from underneath the car and handcuffed him while the man was crying and saying, "Y'all just ran me over, bro."
The man was taken to a hospital, but the extent of his injuries was still unclear, according to KJRH. Police told the Tulsa news station after the incident that the man's injuries were minor.
The Tulsa Police Department told KJRH that jaywalking can be used as probable cause to talk with someone further due to increased crime in the area.
The officer who did not put his police unit in park is scheduled to come under review in June,.
The man who was run over was charged with jaywalking, resisting arrest and obstructing justice. He is scheduled for a court hearing on Thursday.
