Woman charged with DUI after hitting Franklin Police cruiser

Franklin, TN - A woman is facing charges after crashing into a Franklin Police Department patrol vehicle while officers investigated an earlier crash on Interstate 65 early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. on I-65 near CoolSprings Galleria, according to the City of Franklin.

Franklin police said officers were investigating a separate crash when the woman slammed into the back of a marked patrol cruiser.

The officer assigned to the cruiser was outside the vehicle at the time of the crash, and neither the officer nor the driver was injured, police said.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol arrested the woman on suspicion of driving under the influence and is leading the investigation.
