Domestic disturbance suspect arrested after he pointed a firearm at relatives and children, OIS

Oklahoma City, OK - On Aug. 6, 2026, Spring Lake officers responded to a domestic disturbance call that resulted in an officer-involved shooting.
According to OKCPD, officers arrived at a residence in the 8900 block of Nettie Street at around 8:00 p.m.
Johnny Kemp was identified as a family member that had been reportedly pointing a firearm at relatives and children.
Officers attempted to communicate and de-escalate the situation with Kemp as an armed suspect and in a vehicle at the time.
Kemp started to drive away from the officers but then circled back and attempted to run over several officers.
Kemp then struck a sergeant's patrol vehicle and the sergeant exited the vehicle and then deployed his patrol rifle.
The suspect was struck, taken into custody, and transported to a local hospital.
Kemp was arrested and charged with three counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon after former conviction of a felony, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, two counts of pointing a firearm after a former conviction of a felony, and one count of possession of a firearm after a former conviction of a felony.
