Grappler device helps police in Prairie Village catch suspect with loaded illegal gun

Prairie Village, KS - A suspect who was in possession of a loaded illegal gun was caught with the help of a grappler device.

The Prairie Village Police Department shared video Tuesday afternoon of dashcam footage as an officer pursued a car just after midnight on Monday, April 13.

Video shows the grappler device helping stop the suspect on Roe Avenue just north of Johnson Drive.

The suspect then opened the driver’s side door and fled the scene on foot. Prairie Village police said the suspect was caught after a short foot pursuit. The individual was in possession of a loaded AR pistol.

Police said the individual was charged with fleeing & eluding and illegal possession of a firearm.
