Lititz, PA - Three Lititz Borough Police officers are being commended for what the department said was swift, decisive action that helped contain a house fire before it could spread to attached townhomes early Jan. 24.

Police said officers were dispatched at about 2:17 a.m. to the 600 block of South Cedar Street and arrived in just under two minutes to find the rear of a home on fire.

The officers used fire extinguishers to knock down and control the flames until Lititz Fire Company No. 1 arrived shortly afterward, according to the department.

"The actions of Sgt. Tyler Weinoldt, Ofc. Jevon Miller, and Ofc. Sam Habbershon represent the LBPD mission and core values of Duty, Integrity, and Respect," the Lititz Borough Police Department said.

Police Chief Jared Hahn noted that a fire at that hour can pose heightened danger because residents are often asleep, making it harder to recognize the threat and escape safely.

"The quick and decisive actions of the officers prevented additional damage to the home, kept the fire from spreading to attached townhomes, and preserved human life inside the homes," Hahn said.
