Driver jailed after 100 mph police pursuit ended with car flipping

Rutland, England - Hai Nguyen, 40, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to 12 months in prison at Chester Crown Court on Monday, October 26, after admitting dangerous driving and driving without insurance.
The 100 mph police pursuit ended at Junction 10 of the M56 at Stretton, on the outskirts of Warrington, where Nguyen lost control of his black Audi A6 S-Line at the roundabout after leaving the motorway. The vehicle flipped and rolled over before landing back on its wheels.
Nguyen was the only person in the car and, despite the crash, attempted to climb out through the driver’s window before being detained by police officers.
He has also been disqualified from driving for two years and three months.
The incident began at around 11.30pm on July 20, 2026, when officers travelling on the M6 northbound identified the black Audi as having no insurance.
Police displayed a “follow me” message on their vehicle in an attempt to direct the driver into Knutsford Services.
Officers made a further attempt to get the vehicle to leave the motorway network at Junction 19, but the driver again refused to stop.
Police then activated their emergency equipment, prompting the Audi to accelerate to speeds of around 100mph.
The pursuit continued onto the M56 westbound, with Nguyen driving along the hard shoulder as he attempted to evade officers.
The chase finally came to an end when he exited the motorway at Junction 10 at Stretton and lost control at the roundabout.
The car flipped and rolled over, bringing the dangerous drive to an end.
