Police are investigating a drive-by shooting Monday in Houston's Southside neighborhood that may have been aimed at a police officer.

The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. outside a motel in the 4500 block of Idaho, near Cullen Boulevard, where police were investigating a report of a disturbance.

An officer heard gunfire and stepped outside to see a white Expedition vehicle driving past Idaho, with a passenger brandishing a firearm through the open window at him. The officer opened fire on the vehicle as the vehicle continued driving past.

The shooter opened fire again and ultimately fled. No one was hurt by the gunfire.
