Michigan State Police release dash cam footage of cross-state police pursuit of U-Haul truck
Michigan State Police releasing dash cam footage that shows the moment of the chase began.
LaGrange Township Deputy Marshal Zach Anderson pulls the U-Haul over and less than a minute after Anderson approaches the truck the pursuit begins.
Anderson attempts to cut off the driver during the chase when the U-Haul turns into a Walmart parking lot, but was unable to stop the driver.
The chase continues with a Michigan State Police trooper using a stop stick in hopes of catching the truck.
You can see the U-Haul driver trying to avoid it.
One officer appears to hit the U-Haul before speeding up to get in front of the vehicle, swerving in and out of lanes to keep the truck in between the officers.
Almost twenty more minutes pass before a successful stop stick deployment.
That deployment ending with the driver crashing into a ditch.
Michigan State Police say the driver then barricaded himself in the truck with a "long knife."
Officers worked for about 40 minutes to negotiate with the suspect before eventually removing him from the car.
The suspect was arrested without further problems.
