Drugged up man shot by Mesa police after banging on apartment doors armed with gun

Mesa, AZ - A call to police in Mesa ended with a man hospitalized after an officer fired at a suspect.
Just after 5 p.m. July 11, officers responded to a call about shots fired in the area of Fifth Avenue and Mesa Drive, according to Mesa police. Multiple people said they saw a man outside an apartment complex, banging on doors and armed with a handgun, according to police.
Police say an armed man matching the suspect's description was located by two officers, who gave him "commands to comply." One of the officers shot the suspect after the man "failed to comply," police said.
According to police, the man was taken into custody and hospitalized in stable condition, with a handgun retrieved from him.
Police said the man is 30-years-old but did not name him.
