Orca
Orcas, also known as killer whales, are highly intelligent and social marine mammals belonging to the dolphin family (Delphinidae). They are easily recognizable by their distinctive black and white coloration and are found in oceans worldwide, from polar regions to tropical seas. Orcas are apex predators, feeding on a diverse diet that includes fish, squid, seals, and even whales, and they often hunt in coordinated pods, showcasing complex social behaviors and communication. Known for their impressive size—males can reach up to 32 feet in length and weigh as much as 6 tons—orca populations are generally stable, although some regional groups face threats from pollution, prey depletion, and human activities like shipping and fishing.
