Wyandotte Police Use Grappler to Stop Parolee With Violent History After Fleeing Police Twice
-----
Wyandotte, MI - A parolee with a violent criminal history was taken into custody Monday afternoon after multiple police pursuits through a busy downtown area.
According to the Wyandotte Police Department, the incident happened just after 3 p.m. as people were out enjoying warm weather and traffic was heavy with the after-work and school rush.
Police say the driver — a parolee with prior felony convictions including armed robbery, killing and torturing animals, and fleeing and eluding — refused to stop for another agency, leading to a pursuit that was later called off.
Investigators say the suspect continued driving recklessly and was involved in a second pursuit with another agency, which was also terminated.
Officers in Wyandotte later attempted a traffic stop, but the driver tried to flee again. Police deployed a Grappler device, bringing the vehicle to a controlled stop.
The suspect was taken into custody. No injuries were reported.
