Idaho State Police use PIT maneuver to end pursuit on after he failed to stop during a traffic stop

Meridian, ID - Idaho State Police said a new trooper safely ended a pursuit between Nampa and Meridian after a driver failed to stop during a traffic stop on eastbound Interstate 84.

According to Idaho State Police, Trooper Egle had just finished the academy and was still in field training when he started the stop.

Police said the driver did not yield, and the chase continued toward Meridian.

As the suspect got off at Ten Mile Road, Sgt. Benjamin told Trooper Egle to use a PIT maneuver on the ramp because of heavy congestion in the area.

State police said Trooper Egle carried out the maneuver successfully and ended the pursuit safely.

Police arrested the driver and later found the driver was impaired.
