Amarillo, TX - The Borger Police Department and an Amarillo law firm are at odds following the public release of allegedly altered body-worn camera (BWC) footage involving the arrest of a man in Borger.

The digital dispute stems from an arrest made by Borger PD on Feb. 25.

Following the arrest, Doshon Johnson's family formally requested the body camera footage.

According to the law firm representing Johnson, this request for the BWC footage was denied via formal letter on Feb. 26.

On Friday, Feb. 27th at 5:27 p.m. Borger PD released the body camera footage stating it to be part of their "continued commitment to transparency and community trust."

In the publicly released body camera footage, a portion of the arrest is presented in slow motion.

On Saturday, Feb. 28th, Stockard Johnston Brown Netardus & Doyle, P.C. released a statement condemning the police department's actions involving the incident.

In this public reprimand, they shared the official letter sent to their client's family following the initial public information request.

In the letter, a Borger Police Department official states "the requested video relates to a pending criminal matter that is being referred to the Hutchinson County Attorney's Office for review and possible prosecution. Releasing the video at this time would interfere with the detection, investigation, or prosecution of crime."

The letter then goes on to note the state laws regarding the disclosure and dissemination of public information.

Borger Police Department has not publicly responded following the law firm's reprimand.
